Darby was born and bred in Australia by Kaye McGhie, Fraelighte Kennels (link to Fraelighte www.fraelighte.com) and is owned by Jessica Jolly, Kaye McGhie and Anne Hutchinson. In 2006 he was Australia’s #1 English Springer Spaniel and has won an amazing 22 Best in Show awards, including the “Triple Crown” winning Best of Breed at Brisbane, Melbourne and Sydney Royal, the 3 largest and most prestigious shows in the country.

In May 2009 Darby and Jessica came to Canada and I was offered the privilege of co-owning this wonderful “Dexter”- Am Can Ch Serenade’s Storm Warning, grandson.

His first weekend in the show ring, Darby finished his Canadian Championship and won his first Group First. Shown sparingly throughout the Summer he continued to win multiple group placements.  In September he had a whirlwind weekend in Montreal winning his first Canadian Best in Show plus going Best in Show at the all Spaniel Specialty.

Three trips to the USA resulted in him taking class placements at the competitive Eastern and National Specialty Shows and winning a 4 point major by going Best of Breed over some of the top winning Springers in the country. He need just a few points to complete his American Championship. Darby is shown to all his wins by Jessica.

Darby represents his heritage well. He comes from a long line of top winners and quality English Springers in both Canada and Australia. Like the great dogs behind him, he is mentally and structurally superior. He has a great temperament, is  smart and an easy dog to live with. His ground covering, effortless stride is something highly prized yet rarely seen in North America.

I am very excited about him contributing to our breeding program and adding to the quality we already enjoy here at Serenade. I am honored and pleased to be able to share a small part in his success while in North America.
